Maestro Lauffer serves as a frequent guest conductor for professional and civic orchestras, brass bands, and wind bands through the United States. Royal Sylvan Philharmonic
This professional orchestra is comprised of some of the finest musicians in the Pittsburgh area. Included in the inaugural season were six world premiers commissioned for the RSP by film composer, Jace Vek. The Royal Sylvan Philharmonic has performed at the world-class Nemacolin Woodlands Resort & Spa, located in Farmington, Pennsylvania, and throughout the western Pennsylvania area. The first performance by the Royal Sylvan Philharmonic was held on November 23, 2001. The sold-out concert was enthusiastically received and the orchestra received many accolades for its inaugural performance. The RSP has been commissioned for two recent recordings; the music of film & symphonic composer, Jace Vek (released spring 2005, peaked at #5 in the world on new age charts) and jazz composer, Delsey McKay. In March 2005, the RSP performed on a tour of Pennsylvania with international singer, comedian, and pianist Cahal Dunne. Each of these performances received standing ovations and rave reviews.

Educational & Outreach Consultant / Speaker
The need for American Orchestras to invest in education has become essential toward securing audiences for the future. The decline in arts education offerings in the public school curriculum has resulted in the loss of audience attendance by specific age groups. This de-emphasis on arts education can be traced back to the 1960s with the introduction of an education agenda, which emphasized increased productivity in the areas of math and science. This shift cultivated a societal perception that arts courses were not essential to complete educational development; a condition which we still endure.
Through implementing effective education and outreach programs and by initiating music and arts education advocacy activities, all orchestras throughout the country need to counter this decline. Appropriate planning and designing can build relationships through experiences with students, teachers, administrators, and parents that will result in their benefitting from and supporting orchestral music throughout their lives.
I have specifically designed a strategic plan because I believe that we need to ensure that these critical issues are identified, prioritized, addressed, and then weighed against available resources. The plan establishes strategic goals, determines the most effective strategies for reaching these goals and finally, sets measurable benchmarks for evaluating progress toward goal attainment. I firmly believe we must be reaching out to the schools to generate interest among young people, to ensure future audiences. This plan is able to be adapted to your local and individual needs. The goals, strategies and programs outlined in the plan are intended to be consistent with the mission of your education and outreach department and are adapted and reworked to mutually achieve this. This can be accomplished by offering accessible, effective, and comprehensive education programs which work cooperatively with educational and community resources and organizations.
I am ardent in my belief that an arts education is a crucial component in ensuring a high quality of life for all residents. I am dedicated to serving students, educators, parents and adults in learning about and experiencing orchestral music.
